Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information OT Student collects and how we handle it, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

Account details: your email address, display name, password (stored only as a secure hash).
Profile details you choose to add: university, year level, picture choice and theme.
What you create: study planner tasks, tutorial planner progress, study group memberships and group progress.
Basic technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) used to keep the service secure and working.
When the MSK Lab loads its 3D anatomy model: the time and your browser type, kept with your account to protect the licensed model.

You can use the MSK Lab without an account. We do not collect profile information from guests.

How we use it

To run your account and save your work across devices.
To show your display name and picture to members of study groups you join.
To send essential emails, such as password reset links.
To protect the service from abuse (for example, limiting repeated sign-in attempts).

We do not sell your information and we do not show advertising.

Where it is stored

Your data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database hosted in Australia (Sydney region) and processed by our hosting providers, which may operate servers outside Australia (for example in Singapore or the United States). [Owner to confirm final hosting regions and list providers.]

Your choices

You can view and edit your profile at any time from the Profile page.
You can ask for a copy of your data, or for your account and data to be deleted, by contacting us.
If you have a privacy concern, contact us first. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as light or dark mode. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
